Visitor Visas In New Zealand

If you are a tourist, planning to travel across the North and South Islands and enjoy the natural beauty and breathtaking landscapes, you would need to obtain a General Visitor Visa, unless you happen to be from a country to whom the visa waiver applies.

If you are a business owner, planning to make a short business trip to New Zealand for the purpose of business negotiations, or to attend conferences, events, and meetings, you would need to obtain a Business Visitor Visa, unless you happen to be from a country to whom the visa waiver applies.

If you are planning to visit New Zealand for an express purpose, such as attending a special event (like a wedding, funeral, anniversary, reunion conference, seminar, job interview, graduation, sports tournament or match, religious ceremony, or honeymoon), for medical treatment, a family emergency, or to study a short course as a full fee-paying student, you might be able to apply for a Limited Purpose Visa (instead of a General Visitor Visa), unless you happen to be from a country to whom the visa waiver applies.

There are more than 30 different types of Special Visitor Visa Categories, depending on the purpose of your visit to New Zealand. Each visa category requires you to prove to Immigration New Zealand (INZ) that you are a bonafide applicant and provide the relevant supporting evidence (for the purpose of you applying for that specific visitor visa category).

Surprising as it may sound, visitor visas are the most commonly declined visas for New Zealand. If you are unable to provide relevant verifiable evidence of the purpose of your visit, your visa application could be declined. The key reason is that applicants are unable to understand the type and manner of evidence they must provide to prove that they are a bonafide visitor with sufficient incentive to return to their home country before their visa expires.
